Reflections and Plans: 2017-2018

I think 2017 actually flew by… like for real. I took a nap in March and woke up in December… and of course I hadn’t bought any Christmas presents yet! I’ll be honest, the year started off a little rough. I remember crying in the corner of a wedding reception at the end of 2016 because I was convinced it would be the last wedding I’d ever photograph! But within a few months, IO had been backed away from the ledge and was cautiously optimistic for what 2017 would bring. Now, here we are with 2017 behind us and I can look back and truly celebrate because I got to be involved in over 25 weddings this year! They ranged from intimate micro-weddings to huge 400 guest blow-out celebrations, and they took place in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky. We also already have several weddings booked for 2018 and 2019 as well! I’m so thankful I’ve been able to continue in this career that I love so much!

Towards the end of 2017, I really buckled down to focus on how and where I want to work moving forward. Part of this meant identifying my ideal venues and working with them to establish partnerships that would allow us to reach amazing clients who would love what we have to offer and give us the freedom to create in gorgeous spaces that we love. (And, in case you’re wondering, those ideal venues generally involve bed & breakfasts, boutique hotels, and manicured gardens!) As part of this new focus, we’ll also be offering special promotions for couples who book at our preferred venues as well! If you want more information on that promotion, let us know!

So, I’m glad that I can look at 2018 with much more optimism that I had this time last year! The future is bright. We’re focused and ready to learn, grow, explore, and create. We’ve worked with incredible couples and have many more in our future, and I couldn’t be more thankful for each person that we’ve encountered along the way! YOU are the reason we can celebrate love every day and every year!

Cheers to 2018! ~M
