9 Years Later

On November 8th, 2008, I got to photograph my first wedding. I had no idea what I was doing! But I learned a lot that I could grow from, and even though I was really sick that day, I still loved the process! It sparked a passion in me that has grown over the years into what you now see as “The Modern Heart”.

I’ve grown from a borrowed camera into an intentional and professional business. I’ve grown from trying to imitate Pinterest to creating unique images designed to capture each couples venue, style, and personality. Most of all, I’ve learned what it means to be a part of someone’s wedding day. They invite you into their lives that day, not because a wedding planning check list told them to hire a photographer, but because they truly want to remember that part of their lives. They want to look back on each special detail and remember the moments attached to them. They want to see their loved ones gathered around them as they begin this wonderful journey together. They want to see how their partner looks at them and remember how it feels to be freshly in love and full of hope and excitement. It’s an amazing honor to be able to capture those memories for them!

Nine years ago, I never would have thought that my career would be devoted to telling the love stories of couples all over the U.S. but what an adventure it has been! If you’ve been one of those couples, thank you! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for entrusting me with your memories! Your smiles, friendship, and referrals have been the driving force behind this business and I consider you all family!

So with nine years down, dozens of wedding albums designed, hundreds of thousands of images processed, and countless memories made, here’s to the next year and a dozen more beyond that!
