So, funny story about how I met Adam and Emily long before their engagement session…
In March of this year, we were documenting a wedding at the Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon, Virginia, when Adam approached us asking if we were (I believe these were his words:) “Professional photographers or friends of the family?” I instantly liked him because of that. (Photogs understand…) We chatted for a few seconds and went on with our day. A few hours later he approached us again asking if we had a business card because he and Emily were planning their own wedding. Being the great business owner that I am, I didn’t have any cards with me, so I told him to find me on Instagram and we could chat.
Y’all… he actually did! In a world of ghosting and missed connections, he actually followed through and not only found our IG page but then sent an email a few days later. From the first time we sat down together I could tell these two were my kind of couple. They complimented each other so well and had settled into this quiet compatibility that is kind of rare to see. Adam was outgoing and engaging, but always sought out Emily’s opinion. Emily was peaceful and reassuring, and was always quick to smile or laugh at Adam’s provoking.
When it was time to plan their engagement session, I asked about places that were special to them. Since their entire relationship has been long distance, most of their visits to the area involved finding destinations to enjoy from a home base in Butler, Tennessee, where Adam lived. Naturally, they had spent a lot of time in the local downtown areas, so Bristol seemed like an obvious choice. We had such a beautiful day for their photos and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to hang out with these two for a little while. Just a few more weeks until we start planning out their December wedding! (I’m already looking forward to their dessert choices!)
