A Brand New Chapter for Both The Modern Heart and the Baker Family

Maternity photo of a woman in a green dress with her hand on her stomach. Her husbands hand rests beside hers. This photo is the cover photo for a blog post and gallery of images related to this couple's maternity session in Bristol, Tennessee.

Last year, I had the privilege of photographing Lannie and Logan’s engagement portraits and wedding. This year, they’re expanding their family with the addition of their first daughter, Aylin Senna. (Such a cool name!)

The timing of all this was quite wonderful too since we’ve decided to expand our services to include in-studio and on-location maternity, newborn, and children’s portraiture! I’m so excited about this opportunity and I knew the Lannie and Logan would be the perfect couple to start off this new chapter in our story.

These two are so laid back and calm no matter what life throws at them and I’ve truly loved working with them. 90 degrees and 400% humidity during their engagement session? No problem. Hurricane rains forcing them to move their wedding venue 4 days before the wedding? No problem. Total downpour forcing us to do all their wedding photos in a hotel lobby? No problem! You get the picture… but just in case you don’t– Maternity photos during a global pandemic so your photographer can’t touch you and has to stay 6 feet away? No problem! For real, these two are so easy to work with and I’m so thankful for client’s like them!

I’m also thankful that we were able to make this session happen at all! We’ve had to cancel so many sessions and events due to Covid-19 and I was afraid this would be among them (and you can’t just reschedule maternity pictures for next month)! But, thankfully, we were able to come up with a strategy that would keep us all safe, and, just hours before all Virginia residents were required to stay at home for the foreseeable future, we made this session happen!

It was definitely different from a normal session. Not only because this was my first full maternity session on my my own, but also because I didn’t want to get close to Lannie or Logan and risk getting them sick! I couldn’t arrange the dress or fix the little strands of hair like I normally would. I couldn’t get super close for those lovely details shots. But I could make sure that we still captured all the laughter and anticipation that these two share! (Shout out to Logan for doing a great job as hair stylist and dress fluffer in my place!)

I can’t wait to get these images into our new marketing guides and onto the website as we make this transition into more services! Well, once we can actually start working anyway…
