Renovations: Day 14

Wow! The last two weeks have flown by! We’re definitely into that stage where so much has been accomplished but, at first glance, it looks like we’ve barely done anything. We have so many big projects in progress right now and several of them are nearing completion so I know we’re only days away from feeling a major sense of accomplishment as the lose ends begin to tie up!

Personal

As most people who have completed renovation work will tell you, there are guaranteed to be a few surprises along the way. Ours just came a little bit earlier than we were expecting.

Renovation at the Erwin Studio: Day 1

Excited That was the word I choose for 2019— a word to guide my decisions and provide focus towards the goals I would lay out for the new year. I filled my planner with inspirational quotes related to excitement. I reflected on new opportunities through the lens of excitement. Now, at the end of it […]

Reflections on my “Word of the Year” for 2019.

If you’ve ever seen the show, Downton Abbey, you can probably recall the opulence and refinement of the English manor house which the main family called home. From there, they hosted extravagant dinner parties in honor of visiting VIP’s, lounged in luxurious clothing, and spent their days existing in a scene of dramatic elegance. What better inspiration for a romantic wedding than that of this bygone era?

Sometimes our best plans for a wedding day are foiled by the one thing we can’t control: Mother Nature. But that doesn’t mean the day is any less special or perfect, it just means we have to adapt and if anything, it reminds us of how much those around us care about the success of the day.

Just in time for the spookiest day of all, Jamie & Brad celebrated their wedding this past weekend with a Halloween themed reception at Meadowview Convention Center & Resort . This bride loves the Halloween season so, after a proposal during Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, it was only fitting that they plan an epic costume party for their wedding reception!

Adam + Emily: Downtown Bristol Engagement Session

I knew from the moment I met them that these two would be a lot of fun to work with! As we were planning their engagement session, I sent out a couple’s questionnaire to help me learn a little more about them and their relationship. Turns out, not only were they planning a Halloween themed wedding (Stay tuned for that in the next few weeks!) but so much of their love story was wrapped up in the holiday. Brad even proposed at Universal Studios during Halloween Horror Nights!

“Day-After” Sessions are great ways to celebrate your wedding in a truly unique way. The idea is that, instead of being confined to your chosen venue or to limited portrait time, you can choose to create your wedding portraits in other meaningful locations, on your schedule, without the stress of the strict timeline of the wedding day. (Plus, they give you another reason to wear all those “nice clothes” again!)

Tennessee Wedding: Hunter & Amber’s Newlywed Photo Session

Let me start by saying how wonderful it is to photograph multiple weddings within the same family! After spending so much time with them during such emotional events, each wedding becomes like a little family reunion for us! It’s always so great to catch up with our previous brides and grooms, see the same parents and grandparents again, and enjoy the company of familiar faces. This wedding was no different.

The wedding industry is always growing and evolving. Each year couples bring their own tastes and interests into their wedding planning and, as such, the trends are constantly changing. One pattern that has emerged over the past few years is that many couples are opting for smaller, more intimate wedding celebrations.
